Good morning everyone!
I am SO amped to be back at blog corner to share with you lots of exciting stuff!
Firstly, I have a confession. I am crap at time management, technical stuff and staying focused! I have also been a little scared to share my voice, hopes and dreams. But I have come to realise that if I don’t get a handle on these things, I will stay stuck. So I am challenging myself to get some of the techo stuff done early today before I arrive at my easel. I also know, that by me finding my voice and working out a way of expressing myself more fully, it can only do good things as I want CREATIVITY to flourish in all of our lives. Big things can happen!!
So without further ado, please grab a cuppa and settle in to watch this little demo I put together of me bumbling my way through some exploratory play with Waterbased Inks and Isopropyl alcohol on watercolour paper. It is my first time trying alcohol (in my art making, hee hee!), discovering how it interacts with the inks and substrates. To be honest, I was so heavy handed and excited with laying on colour and getting reactions with the alcohol, that I wasn’t really focused on completing a finished piece. Which is THE best way to approach new art supplies and materials. Give yourself permission to let go, have fun and get lost in the process. In the end, some abstracty dream catcher type thing’s emerged and I later used art pens to shape them and I used the backgrounds later for another project. I will share those in a subsequent post. In the video, I have condensed a half hour of creative play time into 6 and a bit minutes, so it is in fast time.
Now the second thing I wanted to let you know and I am SO very excited to share with you is this awesomely talented young man, Brayden Sibbald! He is a local artist in my town where I live; here in the South West of Western Australia…Dunsborough. Before launching into his solo career, he was in a band called Needing Cherie. An amazingly talented bunch of young guys who have fun doing what they love. I first heard them playing when they were practicing at my neighbours house, on the street where we used to live. I LOVED listening to their music and when I first heard them playing live and really ‘heard’ Brayden’s voice, I was totally hooked. I am really particular about the sounds of people’s singing voices. I know immediately whether or not their voice resonates with me. It is an intuitive, visceral response. Few voices can evoke a deep reaction at a soul level. But Brayden’s voice can and does. When I love a certain song, I play it constantly. Which I have done over and over whilst creating various paintings. I love all of Brayden’s songs because of his voice and because of the maturity of the lyrics that accompany it; not to mention his talented ability on the guitar! Brayden first featured in one of my Intuitive Painting demo’s, playing in the background as I painted in a video I did as part of the VLOG (video-log) Everyday in February challenge. You can view it here.
However, today’s video is different, because with Brayden’s kind permission, I have FINALLY worked out how to edit my video’s with his music incorporated for better sound reproduction, for your viewing and listening pleasure!
So please, watch the video. Discover for yourself a new music love and check out Brayden on iTunes here and visit it him over on his Facebook page at Brayden Sibbald Music, here. You will be hearing a lot more of him as I develop and release my first mini e-course!
Enjoy!
Please leave your comments below, on your thoughts about Brayden’s incredible voice and music, or any questions you may have on my art play process with the Inks and Alcohol. I look forward to chatting with you.
