As mentioned previously, 2013 is a year of learning and immersing in Art for me. Yesterday I started Tamara Laporte’s Lifebook 2013 course. It runs for the entire year with over 21 teachers sharing their skills, knowledge and kindness. I really enjoyed undertaking the first warm up lesson last night…making my very own ‘Fairy Art Mother’!
Now Tam is just the most beautiful, talented, fun and generous soul in the universe. She offers free classes in addition to a whole lot of formal lessons which includes Lifebook. Here is the link to her website http://willowing.ning.com/ go have a peek, you will be glad you did!
Back to my little Fairy Art Mother, here she is! …
How adorable is she? lol!
Now, she does not represent anyone specifically as she is a whimsical creature, however Tam thought that it would be a really good idea to start the year off with a little support. As all artists experience days of self doubt as well as that little, annoying voice in our ear saying, things like ‘that’s not good enough’ or ‘you call yourself an artist?’; our Fairy Art Mother’s are to help these negative untruths to disappear and then be reframed into a more positive message about our art. My Fairy Art Mother…I think I will call her ‘Glady’s’, will sit on my wall in my studio and banish any unwelcome gremlin sitting on my shoulder whispering negative thoughts in my ear. I now only have to look at Glady’s and ask her to point her wand at that gremlin and vanquish it!
Aah! The wonderful world of whimsy…so lovely and so potent.
Oh! The other thing Tam suggested is that over the year we add little thought bubbles around our Fairy Art Mother to further support and encourage our creative endeavours.
A lovely little start to the creative year don’t you think?
Lots of fun on the horizon!!
