Soul searching blog changes

24/09/2013 By Tanya Cole Leave a Comment

I have renamed my blog! What do you think of the new name?

Let me tell you why I have changed it.

After 5 years of being a stay at home mum to three energy filled gorgeous kids, I returned to work (about 6 month’s ago to be exact.) You know? So many women make it look easy… juggling kids, work and running a house. I don’t mind admitting that I am struggling…daily. I am a Libran. Balance is not my strong point. Some days I get down on myself because I judge myself and compare how I think I am doing with the ‘supermum’ yardstick that somehow we think we are all to aspire to become. I fail frequently, but I am making choices every step of the way. I have re-started my practice as an Occupational Therapist, providing Soft Tissue treatment and I am also building my profile as an Artist. I love both jobs and both fulfill me in different ways. However, when I am not being an OT and the kids are asleep, I am the creative artist and I LOVE this time.

This blog was birthed about a year ago. A couple of weeks ago, I really started to think about what direction I wanted to take with my art and this blog. To help me get clearer, I decided to enrol in the lovely Liv Lane’s online class How to Build A Blog You Truly Love.

Liv’s gentle, yet delving approach has got me thinking and doing! I have renamed this blog Feel Create Fly, partly as a reminder for me, as well as to all you amazing women out there. I have a tendency to think WAY too much, to analyze, make assumptions and stay in my head until I have created problems that were probably not even there in the first place. The word ‘FEEL’ is a reminder to get out of our heads and back into our bodies and the best way to achieve this is to ‘CREATE’! I am going to continue to share photo’s showing the progression of whatever I am working on. But this time, I am going to start sharing a few ‘how to’ video’s on here. Eek! This scares me, yet excites me also. I think it will be really fun, but I know I will have butterflies in my stomach worrying what you all will think of them. So go easy on me please! 🙂 I hope that the video’s will be fun, informative and inspiring. They will be on various mixed media techniques, including whimsy drawing and painting, intuitive art journaling, sewing projects and art supplies play and exploration. I am open to suggestions too if there is something you would like to see. I would love to hear from you.

In amongst all of this, there will be a whole lot of opportunity for healing growth. No matter how hard I try to keep things light, there is an intrinsic need and desire in me to understand and grow and try to become a better person. I see suffering and I want to snuff it out. It hurts me to see others in pain. This drives me to share and inspire and give others hope, that they can empower their lives and not only heal but find joy as well and let their souls ‘FLY’.

So in a nutshell, Liv’s course is helping me to crystalize my creative life goals and the purpose of this blog. I am excited to see where it goes.

I have updated the blog’s ‘About’ page to reflect this new branch of the journey, so if you feel like reading some more, head over and take a look.

I will be working on my consistency issues and will be endeavouring to post regularly. In the meantime, please leave me a comment and say hello. Thank you for reading up to this point, it is very much appreciated and valued.
