Painting messy! ‘The Making of Ms Transcendence’ by Tanya Cole Artist

I LOVE LOVE LOVE to create detailed shaded colour pencil drawings of whimsical girls, boys and women; as well as various animals like rabbits, owls, wolves, cats, birds and fish. I keep my drawings neat and tidy with controlled lines.

BUT! I also LOVE LOVE LOVE messy! Immersing and moving my hands around in thick, gluggy paints or thin, runny glazes…it makes me HAPPY and allows me to express myself!

So in this little snippet, you get to see a whimsical girls face morph out of the paint and eventually take shape. Much scraping, wiping, reapplying of paint until a face emerges. At the time, I was processing some troubling thought I had and it enabled me to throw the thought around and view it from different angles and perspectives. I was able to replace and repaint her face until I came to some internal resolution of forgiveness, acceptance and peace. So then to did my girl emerge.

Here is a brief look into ‘The Making of Ms Transcendence’…

I hope you like and would love to hear your comments below! 🙂
